2011 will experience the release of this new fusee and chain transmission watch from Glashutte, Germany based A. Lange & Sohne. To be honest, fusee and chain movement watches excite me a lot more than tourbillons. Not that they are mutually exclusive, but I really love the idea that there is a tiny hand-made (bicycle style) chain in a watch helping to move power from the mainspring to the movement. Plus, a fusee and chain is a lot more useful for accuracy and rate reliability than a tourbillon is.

Cabestan does the fusee and chain best because they make it visible on the dial. On This lovely Lange you'll have to peek around through the back of the watch for views of the chain. If you look at the movement image in this post you can see bits of the chain wrapped around the brass colored mainspring barrel at the upper right-hand part of the movement.

Audemars Piguet really loved the art deco era. Lots of the pocket and wrist watches they have on display are from that era. Some of them are really gorgeous. The last image you'll see here before the gallery is of a special satellite based watch that is the exact same style that URWERK now uses. Neither Audemars Piguet or URWERK invented the system, but you can see that while URWERK makes it feel ultra modern, it is a way of telling the time that has been around for a while. Lastly, don't miss the Audemars Piguet watch made and finished by Philippe Dufour (images in the gallery). I also want to apologize the images not being the best possible.
